Choosing Rolling Papers: Hemp, Thickness & Burn
Material, thickness and gum decide how a paper handles and how cleanly it burns. A short buyer's orientation.
Material
Papers are commonly made from hemp, wood pulp or rice. Hemp papers are valued for an even burn and a neutral character that stays out of the way of the flower's own aroma.
Unbleached papers skip the whitening step, which is why they keep a natural tan colour rather than appearing bright white.
Thickness and burn rate
Thinner papers contribute less of their own combustion character. Slower-burning papers give a steadier, more even draw and are generally easier to roll well.
King Size Slim is the most common format for a full-length roll; shorter formats suit smaller portions.
Gum and finish
A natural gum seal closes reliably without adding flavour. Booklet count tells you how many leaves you are buying — 32 leaves per booklet is a standard king size slim count.
