How to Read a New York Cannabis Label

Every licensed New York product carries the same core information. Here is what each part of the label is telling you.

Start with the licensed retailer

Labels are only meaningful when the product came from a licensed New York dispensary, because licensed products are lab-tested and labelled to state requirements.

Bsmile Cannabis products are made through authorized relationships with appropriately licensed New York cannabis processors and reach you through licensed dispensaries. Cannabis is not sold on this website.

Cannabinoid content

THC and CBD are reported as percentages for flower and pre-rolls, and in milligrams per serving or per package for edibles. These figures reflect what a licensed laboratory measured for that batch at the time of testing.

A higher THC percentage is not a quality score. Cure, aroma and the wider chemical profile shape the character of a product far more than a single number.

Batch, package and testing details

Batch or lot identifiers let a product be traced back to its production run. Package size, packaging date and the licensed entity responsible for the product appear alongside them.

Where a terpene listing is provided, it is usually the most practical guide to how a cultivar will smell.

Required warnings

New York labels carry the state's required adult-use warnings, including that the product is for adults 21 and over and should be kept away from children and pets.
