What the Office of Cannabis Management Actually Does

The New York State Office of Cannabis Management implements the state's cannabis law and administers licensing for the adult-use market. Its consumer pages are the state's own account of what adults 21 and over may and may not do.

Rules are adopted and amended by the Cannabis Control Board, which is why every regulatory statement on this site carries the date a Bsmile editor last reviewed the source.

OCM publishes a dispensary location verification resource, and New York State Open Data publishes a current list of OCM licenses. Between them you can confirm whether a shop is actually licensed rather than relying on a third-party directory or a shop's own signage.
