Use the state's own records rather than a shop's signage or a third-party directory. The Office of Cannabis Management publishes a dispensary location verification resource, and New York State Open Data publishes a current list of OCM licenses.

If a business does not appear in those state records, treat it as unlicensed. Unlicensed sellers are not subject to New York's testing, labelling and packaging requirements.
